Protest on 28 September 2026

Crowd gathers outside City Hall in protest at the proposed changes to waste collection under Phase 3.

Phases 1 and 2 saw the introduction of compactors for the disposal of bin bags in the inner city - no bin bags are collected and waste is presented in wheelie bins for kerbside collection. The customers covered under these phases are mainly commercial and apartment dwelling.

Phase 3 homes are mainly terraced dwellings with no gardens and very few have access to a yard.
